The Stop Wildlife Crime Campaign was launched in 2014 as a collaboration between DNPW and Lilongwe Wildlife Trust. The primary goal of the programme is to reduce wildlife crime activity, which covers poaching, trafficking and trade, to:
- Deter people from involvement in any form of wildlife crime (poaching, buying, selling, or facilitating)
- Encourage people to report wildlife crime
It has gained support across a broad spectrum of society, from grass roots communities to the highest of political levels, including the backing of HE President Mutharika, and 15 Ambassadors and High Commissioners to Malawi.
The campaign has been re-branded for 2018.
